DICE's upcoming Battlefield 3 has already clocked up a massive 1.50 million pre-orders, with just under two months until release day.
The 1.50 million figure was given by EA CFO Eric Brown, who spoke recently at the Citi 2011 tech conference. Brown says this places Battlefield 3's pre-orders comfortably ahead of those for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 at a similar time before that game's release.
Here's what Brown had to say about BF3's towering pre-order figures --
On your June earnings call, you mentioned that Battlefield 3 pre-orders were 10 X that of Battlefield 2. You also noted that pre-orders for Star Wars were greater than any other game at EA. Now that we're in September, would you be willing to comment on how pre-order levels have been tracking on those games so far?
Sure. I'd be happy to comment specifically on Battlefield 3. So the game has come off a very successful Gamescon as of two weeks ago won Game of the Show. To date have about 1.25 million pre-orders on Battlefield 3, so it's still well ahead of its predecessor title, Battlefield Bad Company 2 in regards to pre-orders relative to the same number of weeks to launch, so it's doing very well. We don't have a specific number for Star Wars at this point in time, but the title and demand is tracking that consistent with our expectations.
Battlefield 3 hits Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 25.
